||About the Author|J.R. Hamilton, in 1969, was Reader in the Department of Classics at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He was subsequently Associate Professor at the University of Auckland until his retirement in 1986.

Based on Ziegler's revised text, this book provides a commentary on Plutarch's "Life of Alexander". It devotes most of its space to historical matters, comparing Plutarch's narrative at every point with the sources.
