Block|Being a Vietnam Veteran USAF assigned to the USArmy II Field Forces Long Binh RVN (1967-68) I can relate to this book as we all went off to wars as young men and returned as old men with that "thousand year stare"!
It does give comfort to know that these Greek warriors has the same experiences and returned home as shatter|About the Author|A. F. Garvie is Professor Emeritus of Greek in the University of Glasgow. He has written widely on Greek tragedy and edited Aeschylus: Choephori (Oxford, 1986), Homer: Odyssey VI-VIII (Cambridge, 1994) and Sophocles: Ajax (Warminster, 1998).

Ajax, perhaps the earliest surviving tragedy of Sophocles, presents the downfall and disgrace of a great hero whose suicide leads to his rehabilitation through the enlightened magnanimity of one of his enemies.
