It is not as thorough, from a historical perspective, as Chilver's commentary, but in addition to a more up-to-date perspective and (extensive) bibliography, Ash includes notes on historiographical and stylistic consideratio| |In conclusion, I am grateful to the editors of the Cambridge series for continuing to publish quality commentaries for senior undergraduate and graduate level Latin courses.
